Unless we continue to learn from our customers, our tradition will not endure. This is what Jewelry Salon Kikuya in Shibuya, Tokyo believes.

Jewels and accessories that have been created using proper techniques possess a wonderful "wearability."

OUR POLICY OF QUALITY

The quality of jewelry is not merely the material value and grade of jewels and precious metals.
We believe that extremely high-priced items, very ordinary items, and everything in between have qualities that should be protected.

Repairs and Maintenance

Repair

Though you wear your jewelry with care, perhaps you have experience with the following.
A beautiful piece of jewelry is created through the composition of delicate components.
Even when you handle your jewelry carefully, at times they break.

- Pearl necklaces with a broken string or wire, or wire worn by age.
Though it depends on the frequency of use, strings should be replaced every 5 years and wires every 10 years.

- Rings that are misshapen or have loose stones
Rings can become misshapen by impact shocks, vibrations, or a strong force, and gemstones can become loose when the prongs are worn down by longtime use.

- Necklaces and bracelets with broken chains
These are stretched and break when they become snagged and pulled by objects such as clothing and hair.

We also resize and clean rings, and restore jewelry.

Please feel free to talk with us about these kinds of issues. At Jewelry Salon Kikuya, we commence working on your jewelry once you understand how we can assist you.

A simple way to maintain jewelry

For rings, chain necklaces, and bracelets made of precious metals (gold, platinum) only

  1. Place in lukewarm water to which jewelry cleaner or neutral detergent has been added, then wash gently with a soft brush. Thoroughly brush the underside of rings and the gaps in chains, as well.
  2. Be sure to use fresh water to rinse.
  3. Completely wipe away the moisture with a soft cloth.

Diamonds, rubies, sapphires, cat's-eyes, aquamarines, etc.

PEARL

Pearls are vulnerable to sweat and acids and are quite delicate. When you take them off, you should wipe them with a soft cloth that same day. When putting them away, be careful to arrange them so they don't lay over or under other jewelry.

Jewels susceptible to shocks

Wiping jewels with a soft cloth is sufficient. You must be particularly careful not to subject emeralds and paraiba tourmaline to impact shocks.
When stones of the same degree of hardness collide, both are damaged, so you should ensure they are not in contact with one another when putting them away.

Gemstones such as opals, turquoise, coral, and amber

Wiping jewels with a soft cloth is sufficient. When putting them away, wrap each one in a cloth or place each one in a small pouch, and ensure they are not in contact with one another.
